Airtel and Sparkle Partner to Boost Connectivity via Blue-Raman Cable

To enhance the worldwide connectivity infrastructure, Bharti Airtel has formed a partnership with Sparkle, an international service provider from Italy, to utilize capacity on the Blue-Raman Submarine Cable Systems linking India with Italy.
Airtel stated that the two companies will collaborate on creating new business prospects and projects in the Indian sub-continent by utilizing their cable infrastructures.
“We are happy to partner with Sparkle as we further consolidate our leadership in global connectivity,” Vani Venkatesh, CEO -Global Business, Airtel Business said. “This partnership will further diversify our network with large integrated capacities to meet the ever-growing connectivity needs and data demand of our customers”.
Sparkle is a significant figure in the telecommunication cable sector, with ownership and operation of a network exceeding 600,000 km of fiber across Europe to Africa and the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia.
In 2022, Airtel, leading telecom provider revealed collaborations with Meta and STC to expand 2Africa Pearls underwater cables to India, linking with Airtel's terminal point in Mumbai. ET stated that the project is anticipated to launch later this year.
2Africa is one of the world's longest subsea cable systems, extending over a distance of 45,000 kilometers. The new system will support 180 tbps and will link 33 countries, including Airtel's landing station in Mumbai under Sunil Mittal's leadership.
