Bharti Airtel has secured a long-term agreement with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to enhance its tax systems as part of the Taxnet-2.0 initiative. The official contract, signified by the exchanging of the Letter of Award and Acceptance, was witnessed by Sunil Bharti Mittal, the Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, and Ravi Agarwal, the Chairman of CBDT.

In this collaboration, Bharti Airtel will act as CBDT's network and connectivity ally, offering high-level solutions such as dual connectivity using Software Defined Network for WAN and Secure LAN. These technologies play a critical role in improving the effectiveness of tax collection, processing, monitoring, and accounting.

"Airtel will provide robust dual connectivity with Software Defined Network for WAN, Secure LAN amongst other technology solutions for CBDT’s Taxnet-2.0 program which aims to modernise the current system for collection, processing, monitoring and accounting of direct taxes," it said in a statement.

Bharti Airtel has been a network partner of CBDT since 2008 through Taxnet-1.0 and sees the contract award as a furthering of their successful partnership with the Directorate, according to the company. The introduction of Taxnet-2.0 is anticipated to greatly enhance CBDT's operations, backing India's digital transformation agenda in taxation administration.
