Cellares, the first Integrated Development and Manufacturing Organization (IDMO) globally and a top player in automated cell therapy manufacturing, has partnered with Sony Corporation, a technology innovator in flow cytometry, to work together on developing and integrating advanced flow cytometry-based cell analysis and sorting solutions into the Cellares Cell Shuttle™, an automated platform for cell therapy manufacturing. Sony will utilize technology from its CGX10 Cell Isolation System in order to create innovative new solutions.
Cellares' Cell Shuttle is anticipated to become the world's initial fully automated cell therapy manufacturing solution with cell analysis and sorting abilities by merging the two top technologies in the industry.
Cellares' Cell Shuttle is a revolutionary manufacturing platform for cell therapy that is automated, scalable, and fully integrated. The Cell Shuttle is created to fulfill the strict requirements of clinical and commercial-scale manufacturing by automating and integrating all cell therapy manufacturing unit operations in a closed, ISO 8 environment. This combination and streamlining allow for significant expansion, enabling the production of 16 cell therapy batches simultaneously, at a lower cost of up to 50% compared to standard CDMO batch pricing, while also decreasing risks of contamination and human error.
Sony's CGX10 cell isolation system is perfect for cell therapy applications as it can sort cells quickly, efficiently, and accurately within a closed system. Combining its sorting features with the Cellares Cell Shuttle is anticipated to improve the effectiveness and scalability of sorting-reliant cell treatments.
