GFGNL to Provide 25K Rural Fiber Connections to Gujarat Rural households

Launched on December 25 as part of the Digital Gujarat campaign - the 'Har Ghar Connectivity (Fiber to Family) initiative, is an objective of empowering households in the rural regions of Gujarat by turning them into ‘Smart Homes’. Households in the rural regions of the state will be offered with high-quality internet connections and other value-added services at reasonable rates under this initiative.

The Har Ghar Availability drive has been launched by Gujarat Fiber Grid Network Limited (GFGNL) under the State Division of Science and Technology. Rural households will be rendered with affordable, high-quality internet connections coupled with VAS which include Wi-Fi, cable TV (FREE- to-air and paid channels), OTT and gaming Through GFGNL. At first, 25,000 FTTH (fiber-to-home) connections will be given as a pilot project in partnership with numerous agencies. Consequently, these connections will be scaled up in the future, benefiting more and more from rural households.

Through this drive, services such as Television entertainment, payment of utility bills, digital service stacks, and government-to-citizen (G2C) services will be made available to rural households. Moreover, services such as online education (e-education), IoT solutions for agriculture, e-agriculture, information dissemination that are related to animal husbandry, e-health as well as telemedicine will also be available at home.

With these initiatives, the Gujarat government plans to realize the objective of a connected government, connected communities, connected businesses sooner.
