Shares of Hewlett Packard fell 7.7 per cent, while Juniper jumped 21% in extended trading. The deal would help bolster the nearly 100-year-old technology company's artificial intelligence (AI) offerings. Last year, server maker HPE said it was rolling out a cloud computing service designed to power AI systems similar to ChatGPT, as per livemint.
Juniper provides high-performance network and service options such as routing, switching, Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), network security, AI-enabled business networking operations (AIOps), and software-defined networking (SDN).
HPE India has the most employees outside the United States, accounting for more than 25% of the company's overall manpower. India is a vast and expanding economy, and we are encouraged by the government's initiatives to improve infrastructure. As everything becomes digital, technology will continue to play an important role.
In 2019, HPE announced a $500 million investment in India over five years. As we near the end of that time period, how do you assess the execution and outcomes of that investment?
We made investments in India to increase our presence in R&D and services. We have greatly increased our team in India in recent years. In the next phase, we intend to invest in manufacturing. We want to create high-volume servers worth $1 billion in the first five years at a manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. This manufacturing operation will help to meet expanding customer demand in India while also strengthening HPE's worldwide supply chain. We are also thinking about investing in networking and computing.
